Celebrating Art in the Garden, an outdoor sculpture exhibition in a Wiltshire garden
A stunning private garden, a welcoming community run café and inspirational contemporary sculpture make for a magical combination. ‘Celebrating Art in the Garden’, the 2016 sculpture exhibition at West Lavington Manor in Wiltshire has all three. Staged by voluntary organisation The Friends of the Garden ‘Celebrating Art in the Garden’ will be its sixth biennial exhibition and the second in this very special place. This year’s exhibition is held in association with Pound Arts, Corsham, and forms part of its Rural Touring Arts programme.
The West Lavington Manor gardens extend to over four acres and incorporate 17th century terraces and lawns shaded by magnificent mature trees. A river flows through a lake with deck and boardwalk, herbaceous borders line paths while yew topiary frames many viewpoints. This year there are two major new features; a Japanese Garden provides a calming element at the end of the long border while across the lake a white birch grove extends up the slope towards the Manor’s vineyard.
Closed 31 May and 6-7 June. Open 11am-6pm except 11 June 9am-6pm
