HOLY WEEK FESTIVAL

Each year, in the two weeks preceding Easter Day Malmesbury Abbey, hosts its annual Holy Week Festival. There are many things that you might expect: a daily rhythm of prayer at 9am, an outdoor Palm Sunday service, devotional services centred on the cross on Good Friday and joyous celebrations of the resurrection on Easter Day. But the Abbey also comes alive with jazz, blues, drama, scientific debate, silent cinema, comedy, poetry, classical music, cafe church and a Stations of the Cross Art Exhibition created by A-level students at Malmesbury School.

Each year we also work with BBC Wiltshire to broadcast Easter from Malmesbury Abbey across thousands of homes in our county and beyond.

In 2015 the festival began with a 5-day transformation of the Abbey The Garden Labyrinth; a circular maze-like journey on the floor of the Abbey which led us from the Garden of Eden to the Garden of Gethsemane and then finally to the Tree of Life in the new heavens and the new earth.

In 2016 our Holy Week Festival will run from March 14th-27th. More details of events to follow
